Lieutenant Governor of Idaho
The lieutenant governor of Idaho is a constitutional statewide elected office in the U.S. state of Idaho. According to the Idaho Constitution, the officeholder is elected to a four-year term. The current lieutenant governor of Idaho is Republican Scott Bedke, who took office January 2, 2023. Powers and duties The power of the lieutenant governor of Idaho derives from Article IV, Sections 12 and 13 of the Idaho Constitution, which provides that the office is first in line of succession to the governor of Idaho. It also dictates that the lieutenant governor serves as the presiding officer of the Idaho Senate. The lieutenant governorship has been a constitutional office in Idaho since statehood in 1890. Scott Bedke
Scott Conrad Bedke (born April 27, 1958) is an American politician serving as the 44th lieutenant governor of Idaho since 2023. A Republican, he served as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives for the 27A district. In December 2012, Bedke defeated fellow Republican Lawerence Denney to become speaker of the Idaho House of Representatives. Early life and education Bedke was born in Twin Falls, Idaho. He graduated from Oakley High School and from Brigham Young University with Bachelor of Science in finance. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Italy from 1977 to 1979. George Hill (Idaho Politician)
George Elbridge Hill (October 26, 1868 – May 6, 1958) was an American politician who served as the 20th lieutenant governor of Idaho. Hill was elected in 1932 along with Governor C. Ben Ross. Career In 1886, he and his father settled in Rigby, Idaho. His father built a homestead and began to cultivate the land. For four years, Hill assisted him in his agricultural enterprise. In 1890 he returned to Salt Lake City, where he entered college. He also worked as private secretary for Congressman B. H. Roberts and studied law. He also worked as newspaper reporter. In 1902, Hill returned to Idaho. He founded the ''Rigby Hardware, Lumber & Manufacturing Company'', which firm gave up the lumber business and later operated as one of the largest department stores in the eastern part of the state. Lewis Sweetser
Lewis Hobart Sweetser (January 13, 1868 – June 9, 1944) was a Republican politician from Idaho. Born in San Francisco, he attended the University of California, Class of 1889, where he was a member of Chi Phi fraternity, and Yale University. Sweetser served as the 11th lieutenant governor of Idaho from 1909 to 1913 during the administrations of Governors James H. Brady and James H. Hawley. He lived in Burley, Idaho. Sweetser also served in the Idaho Legislature. He was a member of the Idaho State House of Representatives from 1901 to 1902 and from 1905 to 1906. He died in Los Angeles in 1944. Ezra A
Ezra (fl. fifth or fourth century BCE) is the main character of the Book of Ezra. According to the Hebrew Bible, he was an important Jewish scribe (''sofer'') and priest (''kohen'') in the early Second Temple period.
